Gavin and Kate arrived late in the afternoon from their reunion in Denver. Poor Kate was sick all the first night and Josh was sick all the next day so their visit got off to a slow start but I think, by the end of the week, they were ready for their trip home and the enforced rest that driving 10 hours a day demands.Â
We had a family barbeque one night and everyone hiked to Timpanogas Caves one morning. The cousins had a sleep over and marshmellow roast another night. That next morning everyone got up, ate breakfast and put on their sunday best to tour the Oquirrah Temple. We had a nice dinner at Jen and Quinten toward the end of the week, and a steak dinner for the adults…thanks Gavin and Kate. (the kids got homemade pizza)
The Fourth of July celebration was the highpoint of the week. Gavin and Quinten organized some relay races, a cup decorating contest and a dance competion. Everyone won something and got to chose the firework to be shot off in their name.Â
The highlight of the evening was our fireworks display organized by the boys. They had purchased one of Costco’s packages and we also, finally, fired off the illegal ones that we had bought in Missouri a couple years ago. We got a late start and were out there until the last whistling pete and roman candle had been fired into the night sky.Â
Gavin and Kate left the following Tuesday morning at 6:30 am. We will miss them sooo much. It is more fun than I can explain to have any of the boys together. I really missed Allyn and Shane’s family. Next Year!!!! I put up some pictures of the week’s festivities
Thanks for all the fun in Utah! Can’t wait to show you guys India next!
