We went with Jay and Susann to Capitol Reef last weekend.  It rained somewhere down there every day… but we were not affected.  Gene told us about a good fishing lake that could only be reached by walking or driving ATV’s…..I wish I had gotten a picture of the old suburban that someone drove in there.  The trail was brutal.  It took us an hour and a half to go three miles.  Susann and I swore we would not do it again so DeVar had to change all his plans.

We stayed in Fruita which is a historical area settled  originally by Mormon pioneers.  The orchards planted in the 40’s are still there and you can eat the fruit that is in season during your visit.  We filled up on pears and the best apples I have had in a long time.  The deer were also there in droves to eat the leaves off the trees.

We found an easier trail the second day and stumbled across a little slot canyon where we found a guy fishing….guys will go anywhere to fish!!!  The closest lake, Little Downs, was suppose to be good fishing but it was low and all we managed to do was get our ATVs stuck in the mud.

The last day, we drove the 10 mile scenic tour that ended in a dirt road down the most amazing gorge which then ended in a hiking trail.  Susann has better pictures on her facebook.

Hope you can make out the series of pictures of the natural water tanks.  They were worth the .2 mile of rock that we had to navigate so we could look down into them.
